SCRIPTURES

Matthew 4:23-25

23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them. 25 Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the Jordan followed him.

It is always true that only those who need something wait for what they need. They look for for what they need, anticipate it, and enjoy it. Whatever it is, if you don’t need it, you will not wait for it. You won’t look for it, anticipate it, or be interested in it either.

This is true for faith as well.

Until now, we have preached God’s gospel to the weak, the sick, and those having a hard time living life. People who are not in need do not seek God. They don’t seek the savior either and do not wish to listen to the Word.

From today’s main scriptures, you can see that Jesus did the same thing. He went to the sick, the suffering, the poor, and those living without hope. And he preached the gospel to them while healing them of their sicknesses and weaknesses.

Everyone needs to meet God’s salvation history, the savior sent by God, and the gospel. Regardless of who you are, this is a must.

People consider faith as secondary. And they put making a living and their desires as their most urgent priority.

They only go to church when the time comes. They seek God and the church only when they find themselves needing God.

There is a reason people do not go to church. But it is not because they don’t know how to or because there is no one to guide them. They don’t go because they are too busy living their lives. They have neither the time nor interest. And they do not go because they don’t have the need to go.

What You Can Do

That is why, when you evangelize, you have to introduce them to the gospel well. You have to do it while treating them in ways that are appropriate to their lives. Then they will set aside some spare time for you. And they will learn without feeling burdened.

Everyone needs to live their own daily life. Like Jesus, you should get involved in people’s daily lives. You should help them, accompany them, and preach the gospel to them like that.
